The 1917 Branding Bunch
On February 10, 1917, a group of students from Texas A&M University kidnapped the mascot of their lifetime rival, The University of Texas. The Aggies delivered this longhorn steer to Waco, Texas, where they branded an A&M winning football score, 13-0, on his side. To save face, University of Texas transformed the brand to read "BEVO." This has remained the mascot's name until this day.
